Leadership
How hard can it be? If you're not failing you're not developing your core competence. To grow, you must learn to fail.
- Hiten Shah, Founder & CEO

We’ll never stop challenging the status quo.

Long-term growth. For Metrics Holdings, that’s not just a strategy, it’s what fuels us. Our companies and services are leading the way to set new standards to transform supply chain practices and business performance.

It’s only because of our people, however, that we’re able to call some of the world’s finest industrial, lighting, and automotive manufacturers our customers. Thanks to exceptional management teams, a host of dedicated global associates, and the endless drive and future-forward thinking of our founder and his family that Metrics Holdings companies are making a positive and lasting impact in business and around the world.

Founded by global business leader, Hiten Shah and his family, Metrics Holdings has, and will continue to, grow new businesses, guide customers through an ever-changing marketplace, and give back to the communities in which we live and operate.

Meet Our Founder & CEO

Hiten Shah, owner and President of Metrics Holdings, MES, Metrics Works, and MESH Works, believes that human beings have unlimited potential—and he’s living proof.

Hiten received a degree in Plastics Engineering from Bhagubhai Polytechnic in Mumbai before attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. By age 21, he’d earned his master’s degree.

Because he started his career as a plastics engineer, Hiten knew very little about overseeing a global supply chain—but that didn’t stop him.

Leveraging his experience as a key manager, process engineer, engineering manager, director of engineering, vice president of sales, and director of joint venture sales, Hiten set out to do more than launch a business; he set out to change the world, one business and one charitable act at a time.

What began with one person and one company has grown into an enduring global enterprise, comprised of multiple organization, investments, and charitable activities supported by more than 150 talented employees worldwide.

And that’s just the beginning.

Past, present, and future, Hiten is on mission to grow, strengthen, and maximize success and potential for our companies, our customers, and our associates.

Business Growth

Under Hiten’s growth-focused leadership, Metrics Holdings is recognized as an innovator in both business and supply chain.

Long before the term “future ready” became part of the world’s business lexicon, Hiten was busy doing just that. With an innate ability to recognize opportunity and a voracious appetite for learning, Hiten keeps a pulse on the many shifts, changes, and pivots in our global marketplace. Of course, it helps that he’s savvy enough to capitalize on opportunities, often long before others have even recognized them.

In fact, this is how we’ve grown so quickly and successfully. After the launch of his global supply chain and sourcing company, MES, Hiten figured out how to maximize the use of technology in manufacturing and machining while simultaneously building up our North American manufacturing presence. Hence, the launch of our advanced technologies manufacturing and machining business, Metrics Works.

For Hiten, new business ideas are everywhere—and he’s not afraid to move boldly toward new ones. Case in point, MESH Works, our proprietary online platform that revolutionizes supplier management. Using our own internal software solution, Hiten charged a team with turning it into a value-added subscription-based model for efficient and centralized sourcing and procurement.

Under his leadership, Metrics Holdings is doing business in Japan, Australia, Germany, and Italy. Our first holding company, MES, has expanded from the U.S. to Hongkong, Vietnam, China, India, Poland, Japan, and Mexico. Building upon our global sourcing and e-commerce resources, Hiten also recently started a business for baby products in India.

That’s what happens when your founder and futurist leader is too naive to know how hard something can be—and too stubborn to give up.

Creating a Culture of Trust

Recognized as a workplace pioneer, Hiten considers it a priority and privilege to ensure that Metrics Holdings companies are open and collaborative.

Our workplaces are built on a culture of trust and honesty where everyone—coworkers, customers, and suppliers—are free to express themselves, and where all are treated fairly and respectfully.

Some credit this as the reason Hiten and Metrics Holdings companies have received numerous accolades over the years. In addition to having a book, “The Wizards,” written about him, MES has been named an Inc. 500/5000 company for 7 consecutive years and a Fast 50 for eight.

Hiten, of course, credits this success to hard work, a little luck, and a lot of love and support from his wife of 27 years, Heena.

Led by Values, Driven to Success

Rooted in Hiten’s ambitious work ethic, personal integrity, and core beliefs, Metrics Holdings operates under three key principles that guide and sustain our organization:

  • Create win-win solutions for customers and other stakeholders.
  • Create an exciting and challenging work environment for associates.
  • Develop suppliers and partners globally.

In addition, our shared values, which include appreciating others, taking ownership, learning from failures, and thinking for long-term, run through each of us to fuel our passion, guide our work, and create success for our organization, customers, and each other.

Philanthropy Leader

Inspired by his father, his family, and renowned philanthropists like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, Hiten is wholehearted in his commitment to helping those who have not had the same kinds of opportunities and luck he has.

In fact, Hiten has made it a personal and professional priority to engage all of us in the giving of our time, resources, and talents to the local communities in which our companies and people live and work.

Whether spending time making PBJ sandwiches for the homeless, running a 5K to raise funds for an animal shelter, or dropping off groceries to the YWCA, we’re committed to supporting local charities, education foundations from around the world, the Shah family’s temple, and many of the causes the Metrics Holdings family cares deeply about.
